You know when you need a new laptop battery...

...when the maximum charge is 20 minutes.

My roommate's computer is like that. When she took it in, though, it turned out that she'd had one of the batteries in that batch that were recalled, and so she got a new one for free (or at least she was supposed to...I'm actually not sure if she ever really made that happen, but I know that the possibility exists.).

I looked up the serial number, and it's off by one digit (I think). I hadn't thought of taking it to the Apple Store though, I'll try in December if I haven't gotten one already.

This is an epidemic. My friend Alannah's and my friend Sarah's battery cords literally LIT ON FIRE. My friend Lauren's wouldn't hold a charge for more than about 5 seconds before the computer just shut off.

You should take it in and tell them we're onto them.

I read about a guy whose iBook burst into flames and Apple comped him with a new MacBook Pro with warranty. I should back up my files and send this good friend off on a viking funeral...
But more likely, I'll go to the store and tell them I'm on to them.
